Happy Boxing Day!

Happy Boxing Day! We are spending Christmas with Mr.  Beau's family in Holland.  It's been a wonderful December full of drinks with friends, the nutcracker, walking around the festive city lights, decorating our flat, shopping, mulled wine and eggnog and after a busy year it was fun and needed.  I've taken this month for a little recharge and will see you next week. Hope you had a wonderful christmas! Xooxo Becca

Pretty Comfy

For the past two days I have been dealing with a yucky flu like cold. Sniffles, coughing, lots of water and too much tea. I spent the day laying on the couch wrapped up in layers watching past taped episodes of Downtown Abbey while coughing up a storm, it was lovely, haha. Wrapped up in leggings and layers of sweatshirts and my comfy scarf big scarf, made me think, how I would love to invest in some comfy soft warm new items. Cashmere, wool sweatpants, luxury teas served in pretty gold tea cups. Hey, it doesn't hurt to look pretty even though you are not feeling to hot, right?

My recipe to getting better:

Lots of hot tea. 1. LOV Organic Tea   2. Selfridges Mint Tea

Tea must be served in a pretty mug of course. 3. Bombay Duck Polka Dot Mug

Not just a comfy hooded sweatshirt, but a cashmere one! 4. Cashmere Hoodie Gap

Drink LOADS of water 5. Water Bottle Bobble

Wrap yourself in the comfiest blanket ever 6. Fur Throw from George

Keep the chill away from every part of your body! 7. Cashmere Snood

Keep your feet warm and cute with some pretty slippers. 8. Velvet Boden Slippers

Forget about old yucky sweatpants or yoga pants, how about some knit ones! 8.H&M Fine Knit Sweatpants

Here is to hoping I feel better soon! xoxo - Becca

Wedding Wednesday: Gift Ideas for the Mrs.

It is no big secret that I LOVE a monogram, something personalized, whether it is a tray, a wine glass or better yet, jewelry! Being a newlywed myself this Christmas, with a new monogram, new initials, {crazy}, I would love some new personalized items! I also have a few girlfriends with a new monogram this year and I can't think of anything better to get them then something new and personalized and special! Here are a few of my favorite ideas for something special for the new Mrs. this Christmas.

Mr. Beau….are you reading this? {wink. wink.} Or how about this DREAM item….hee hee hee.  A girl can DREAM, right, it's fun!;) {I'm laughing at myself!}

Beauty at Home with MILK Beauty

It is officially Christmas time! The first weekend of December, our tree is decorated and my Christmas playlist on Spotify is on repeat, I love this time of year! Even though I long for this season every year, it also can be a bit stressful and busy at some times, you too? Nights full of parties and get togethers with friends, stores that are constantly crowded and the feeling that starts to make you feeling run down {too much wine or too little sleep?}. In the middle of this, you still want to feel pretty and put together at the Christmas party, but with a busy schedule and a job that requires my full day, I start to think sometimes, how can I do all of this! A couple of weeks ago, I started thinking of how great it would be to relax at home and get a manicure and pedicure for the festive season, without having to run out of the office early before all the nail salons closed, enter MILK Beauty, Mobile Beauty. I've used their services for an at home massage before and I had never thought of using them for getting my nails done, well, I am SO glad I did!

Wedding Wednesday : Thank You Cards

I thought it was only fitting that I the day before Thanksgiving I share some of my thank you cards and tips with you. As of last week, Mr. Beau and I have been married for five months, yiiipppeee! The most memorable perfect day of our lives seems like forever ago, but I can remember every thing like it was yesterday. We will both be forever grateful for everyone who helped us with planning our big day, attending our big day, sending us gifts, cards, texts, etc, it was amazing and we are thankful! When the task of writing thank you cards came I felt that I had told most people thank you 100 times already, however I wanted to send a special card to thank them officially, as you should.
After much searching, I finally decided on the photo cards from BerinMade. I had decided on these before our wedding because I did not want to wait too long in sending them out.  I absolutely love Erin's work and I wanted to send a photo of us out to friends before Chrstimas card season and a short note and links to our video and photos. I was beyond happy with the Lettered Thank You cards we chose, picking the image on the other hand was hard!

If you are thinking of personalized cards, I recommend you request a photo from your photographer right after the wedding or order non photo ones with your new name, before the wedding so you can send straight away.

Gifts Under £50

Every year about this time I start thinking to myself…oh what am I going to get everyone for Christmas! With our wedding this past summer and a lot of travel in between for other friends weddings, I am trying to stick to a budget but still get nice and meaningful gifts. I love finding sweet gifts that do not break the bank and on their own or paired with something else, are an extra special gift under the tree.
A few of my thoughts below for little Christmas gifts all under £50!

1. Alphabet Bags Let's Dance - I am a huge fan of Alphabet Bags! I love this adorable pouch that can be used as a cosmetic bag or a clutch.

2. Prestat Thins  - Hostess gift, gift to add with a nice book or a bottle of champagne, these salted caramel thins are pretty much AMAZING. Who wouldn't like these!

3. Prestat Liberty Truffles - And as if Prestat chocolates were not amazing enough … Liberty has partnered with them for some amazing and pretty packaging. Perfect gift.

4. Elizabeth Taylor Print - Ooo la la. I would love this Dottie Rocks print on my wall.

5.  Handwritten Personalized Necklace - WOW! I saw this for less then £50 and let out a little yippee! I would love my new last name handwritten on a necklace, what a great gift.

6. Bobbi Brown Eye Palette - Sparkly eye shadow for daytime and evening, perfect for everyday.

7. Le Paperie Studio Tray   - A little lucite tray on your dresser is what every lady needs.

8. Gilded Pretzel Bottle Opener - Now how fun is this party accessory for the hostess!

9. Green Goddess Earrings  - Yes! These are less then £20! How pretty are they.

10. Kate Spade Fancy Another Serving Tray  - Wow. I think I fancy this. Can I get myself a gift?

Happy Shopping!!! xoxo - Becca

Fancy Saturday v. 36

Ok, I know, I usually post Fancy on FRIDAY, however, with a week full of events, I thought it would be fun to post on the weekend. It is a rainy weekend here in London and Mr. Beau and I are hanging around our flat getting ready for Friendsgiving next week. I've been writing the menu and putting together the decor and am excited to have our London friends over to our flat as our first Thanksgiving as mr. & mrs. hee hee. Along the way this week there have been so many ideas and inspirations and things that I fancy, I had to share.

1. Plaid Pants from Old Navy - Truly obsessed with these little pixie pants. They would be a holiday favorite in my closet!

2. Studio DIY Wedding - awwwww. This wedding is so up my alley! I told Mr. Beau that if we an celebrate again….we are putting flamingos all over. Such a pretty mix of classy and fun.

3. What Would Beyonce Do Dottie Rocks - Who doesn't need these pencils! I mean, when I have a mental block I think…what would Beyonce do?;) So cute!

4. John Lewis Christmas Candle - I love this candle. When you light it, it makes your flat smell like a Christmas tree. I can not wait to make our place feel all cozy and warm this year.

5. The Trouvaille Workshop  - I have been thinking A LOT about my goals for next year. Where I want to be and what I want to do. I really want to invest in attending some workshops and getting myself out of this rut I've been in. I want to grow and build my business with meaningful events. Has anyone been to the Trouvaille Workshop. It looks amazing, I know its an investment but I would SO love to go!

6. Hand Painted World Globe   - Christmas gift list, a beautiful painted globe. Anybody else loving this?

Have a great weekend!!! xoxo - Becca

Fall In Love With Fall Blogger Brunch

When I started writing this blog five years ago, never would I have guessed I would be where I am now. Living in London and having met so many amazing people through Urban Flip Flops! Right at the time I moved to London a friend of mine connected me with another American expat who had just made the move as well, Bobbi. Bobbi and I met a couple of times and connected through the blog world and social media and over the past two years started chatting about all of the amazing bloggers in London. What we kept coming back to is how great it is when we meet in person! Being behind a computer all day and meeting in person are such difference things, get togethers are WAY more fun and so nice! SO, we decided to host our first blogger get together and celebrated the season we love most, FALL!  Getting together a group of creative ladies requires some creative items throughout. Since I am an event planner professional and a wedding and special event planner on my own, hosting an event is pretty much one of the top of my list of fun things  to do. So with a little sequins, some inspirational prints, yummy cocktails, glittery name tags, amazing menus and lots of fun girl talk, it was a lovely brunch at the BFI bar and kitchen

I Fancy Friday v. 37

Friday. Friday. Friday. How I love you Friday! I know I say it often how much I love Friday and the weekend, but it is so true. Recently me and Mr. Beau have been on the go every day and night and with work and other commitments we are just plain out busy, as I know so many of us are. I have so come to cherish every minute of our weekends, starting with drinks and dinner on Friday night and long walks on Saturday. This weekend we have a dinner with friends tonight and then a fun reservation tomorrow evening {has anyone been to the Typing Room ?}, but other then that, nothing. Am I like anyone else who loves having an open diary for the weekend? I fancy that!

Throughout the week I have found some little items that I can't wait to try out, make, splurge on, etc. From decorating for the holidays, to changing up my Fall/Winter beauty routine, there are so many little things I fancied this week!

1. Bow Bowtie ASOS - Such an inexpensive way to add some glam to your outfit. Purchased!

2, A healthy Fall Cranberry Smoothie

3. omg, this Turkey Cranberry Brie Sandwich looks like the gourmet Thanksgiving leftover recipe.

4. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream - Does anyone use this? I tried it out at the counter the other day and am kind of loving it. It made my skin feel smooth for hours. Worth the splurge? I do love her products.

5. Michie May Give Thanks Banner - Thinking I may need to get this or make one for Friendsgiving.

6. Rifle & Paper Crown Collaboration - I am BEYOND excited to see this collaboration. I am saving up for one of the pretty flower dresses.

7. Lots & Lots Jewelled Cuff - amazing easy idea for a new cuff!

8. Tulle Skirt & Polka Dots - This picture has inspired me to break out my tutu and wear it again soon.

9. Monogrammed Phone Case Pretty Smitten - I've been looking for a new phone case and I think this is the one. Simple but pretty and chic. Ya?

Happy Friday! xoxo - Becca

Christmas Card Love

Every year I get excited about receiving Christmas cards and sending them out! In the time we live in, with us constantly communicating on social media, emails and text, it is so nice to receive an old fashioned card in the mail with a handwritten note. I have mentioned in the past that I am a huge letter writing fan and so you can imagine how much I love searching the shops and the internet for Christmas cards. In the past years we have made personalized cards from Minted that I absolutely LOVE. This year with our wedding only a few months ago, I decided that maybe instead of custom cards, we buy a few single lovely cards and send a few less out this year. While searching for unique and independent made cards, I couldn't help but share my favorites with you. Here are a few of my favorite cards that I know I would love receiving in my mailbox!

Wedding Wednesday: Getting Ready

Recently I was talking to a friend who had just gotten married and she mentioned how stressful and rushed the morning of her wedding day was. I felt bad blurting out, mine was the best morning ever, but it truly was that I couldn't hold it back. I feel bad that anyone's wedding morning would not be a good memory. I remember during all of the wedding planning, it was so important to me and Mr. Beau that the two days before our wedding and our wedding day, would just be fun and relaxed. I wanted nothing more then to wake up on my wedding day and have a memorable morning getting ready with my mom, mother in law, sisters and girlfriends. They were a huge part of my life and I wanted to thank them and make them feel special as well as making me feel calm and happy. I couldn't sleep any longer the morning of our wedding, so I woke up early and was the first one in the room, I order a cappuccino and the picture below says it all, it was the best day ever!

An Afternoon at Kew Gardens

Yesterday I posted about our lunch at Petersham Nurseries {amazing} so since we were already over in Richmond, we decided to stop by Kew Gardens. Kew Gardens has been one of the spots on my places to visit in London for awhile now. The royal botanical gardens that are full of over 30,000 types of plants and flowers, sounded amazing to me. A day full of sunshine, after a long leisurely lunch called for a few hours of walking through the plants and flowers of Kew Gardens, and it was beautiful.
The site is over 300 acres large and has the amazing picturesque glasshouses that I remember learning about when I was studying abroad here.

An Afternoon at Petersham Nurseries

It is officially mid fall here in London. The days have gotten shorter, there is a chill in the air and the summer days full of sunshine that we had in London this year seem years ago at this moment. I was thinking over the summer today and remembered our day out in Richmond that we had, lunch at Petersham Nurseries and then a stop at Kew Garden, it was a truly lovely day! I heard so many wonderful things about the Cafe and was itching to make a trip out to Richmond for the day. We took the overground from Highbury/Islington and were out in Richmond in 45 minutes. What a beautiful spot outside of the city for a Sunday lunch, it certainly is a refuge from the city as it states on its website!
Petersham Nurseries was opened in the 1970's and has been a highly acclaimed nursery and spot to meet friends for lunch for quiet some time since. The nursery includes a restaurant, tea house, shop and of course the garden. Some day when we win the lottery and get our Georgian mansion in Richmond, I am decorating the sun room from top to bottom in items from the shop {hey a girl can dream right!}.

Blogger Brunch & Getting Back To It!

Hello! Well I am not even sure where to start, lets just say, phew, it has been a crazy busy month! October was 100% busy. I travelled to France and toured the amazing wineries of Bordeaux, I planned a wedding for a lovely couple in London, hosted a blogger brunch, I planned a post movie premier dinner at work, a few other events at work, had a lot of tastings and oh right, we travelled to the States for a friends wedding, my my my. This week I woke up feeling run down and sniffly, I think this was a sign for me to take a break and get some rest. Recently with all the running around going on, when I get home late from work, all I want to do is talk to my husband and cuddle with Sir Oliver, so unfortunately my blog has been neglected. Last weekend the lovely Teri with The Lovely Drawer
hosted a casual blogger brunch at her flat and being surrounded by these amazing and creative ladies got me excited and ready to write again!
So often us bloggers "meet" online. We tweet to one another, post comments on each others blogs and Instagram feeds and we often rarely or if ever meet in person. These past two weekends since I have hosted a brunch and attended Teri's brunch, it has really got me excited again about blogging. Meeting the ladies behind the blog in person is always amazing to hear each others stories of how much we are working to create the life we want. It amazes me to meet the amount of creative ladies there are in the blog world, they are full of talent and excitement and most everyone started out blogging for the same reason, to share the things you love with friends, family and the world.

The Dress Hunt

It has been over three months since Mr. Beau and I walked down the aisle, I can not believe how time flies! I was working at a wedding this weekend and couldn't stop thinking about our big day,  I wanted to press rewind and do it all again. I was thinking of putting on my wedding dress and sitting on the couch tonight, that would be normal, right? I loved my dress so much, thank goodness. The amount of time that I spent finding one, fittings, travel, etc. all for my wedding dress was well worth it. I felt like a princess on my wedding day and truly was so happy at the choice I made in my dress. I've written this post a few times but thought I would dust press POST and share a little of my wedding dress shopping story and some tips I think are helpful along the way. Here goes….
Girls often dream of their wedding dress and have the exact image of what it will be like from the minute they get engaged. I know of some girls who went out wedding dress shopping and purchased their dress the month they got engaged, oh my! I chose a bit of a different route for my dress and spent a bit of time making sure it was "the one". Mr. Beau and I got engaged almost two years before our big day. We were moving to London and the thought of where we would be getting married, our budget, time of year, etc. had not even crossed my mind. For fun, I went to one boutique with my mom just before flying across the pond just so she could see me try on dresses and I could get an idea on style, however, I didn't actuality purchase my dress until seven months before my big day. Take your time, make sure it is the one you love!

{during my trip to Brown's Bridal with my Mom and Mother in Law. I fell in LOVE with a dress here but had to back away twice, as I would have spent almost three times as much as I really did, not worth it.}

I Fancy Friday v. 36

Yay! Today is Blog Awards Day! I am so looking forward to dressing up and catching up with so many amazing wedding ladies tonight at the Savoy, what a perfect way to end the week, I fancy that! I know there has been a bit of radio silence around here, and to say I have been busy may be an understatement. I just returned back from the States where I attended a good friends weddig, visiting my new little nephew, oh right, planning a couples wedding tomorrow, planning so many events at my day job, planning a blogger get together and yep, starting a new little business
Phew. I do fancy that is Friday! See you next week!

1. Wow, so if we got married again, could I wear a pink sequin wedding dress with a bow…maybe! This dress collection on Wedding Sparrow is pretty amazing.

2. The Mrs. Box - I know I am already married but hey, I am so in love with these Mrs. velvet box, WITH your monogram in it. What a beautiful idea, what a keepsake!

3. How fun are these bangle bracelets. I'm loving the new fun bracelets from Ban.do

4. Berinmade's new print line is lovely. Her notepads, cards, everything needs to be placed on my desk! I couldn't think of something more perfect, then this LOVE Flamingo print, that we could hang up in our in progress decorated bedroom.

5. Lauren Conrad's House Tour - So ya, I would like to jump right in, OK, move right into Lauren Conrad's house. Did you see the tour on Instyle?

6. Being an Auntie Rocks! I got to meet my nephew during our trip to the States, #babyninjamax216 and honestly, I'm so in love! The first baby on my side of the family, he is a sweet little man and anytime I'm in a  bad mood, thinking of his little smile and his cuddle time during our visit, makes me all the happier! {Oh my, my sister posted her birth story, it is beautiful!}

7. New Healthy Fall Recipes - OK, so I am trying to be SO good since we arrived back in London from our very indulgent trip to the States. This being said…I am still craving Fall sweets! I found this recipe for Pumpkin Spice Quinoa Breakfast Cookies & Paleo Salted Caramel Chocolate Bites and I think…I may be making one Sunday. HealthieRRRR right?

The Red Lip

I have talked a lot before about my love of lipstick. You may say I'm a lipstick addict, lip gloss junkie, call it whatever you may like! You are right, this lady loves a new lipstick. Can't afford a new fancy purse, buy a new lipstick, it will make you happy. One shade of lipstick I have never seem to find the perfect one of is, the red lip, well, until now!
I have recently received a lot of questions about what brand my new red lipstick is that you may see me wearing a lot on Instagram . A few months ago when my sister was visiting for our wedding, after day three of seeing her in this awesome red shade and it NEVER coming off, I blurted out and interrupted…what are you wearing! She spilled her secret of her favorite new thing and now I'm a convert. Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery
Let me tell you ladies, this stuff goes a LONG way! It is RED red RED! Use a little brush instead of the applicator that comes with it and give yourself a minute to apply. This lipstick stays pretty much all day long, so when you apply it, make it perfect.
The perfect red for all day, for a wedding or a night out on the town, Stila's Fiery is pretty much the best new thing in my makeup bag. Highly recommend that you indulge in a little £15 treat and go try it out.
Have you had any new beauty finds? Do share!

Birthday Resolutions

This New Year's I promised not to make big resolutions for 2014. With so much going on in life this past year, the thought of making resolutions for the year ahead made me itch. Well since last week was my birthday and I feel that I have a new year ahead of me, I have decided to share a few goals and resolutions of my own for my year ahead. Always mentioning my projects and over loaded to do lists, I thought I would share a bit more today about what I have on my agenda for my big 33rd year!

1. Find Happiness Every Day - Yes, I just got married and have an amazing husband, an adorable dog, wonderful family and friends! We live in London and have exciting things going on in life, however I often struggle with the balance of not being fully happy with my job and personal life and stress out about it all. It sounds funny to write that out, but yes, I need to realize I have an extra happy life and just because every box is not ticked at the moment, I'm getting there.

2. Self Employment - Yep ladies and gentleman, I just wrote that and am putting it out there to the world. In the next year I hope I can wake up at 34 {eeekk!} and know that I have to report to myself today and not head on the tube to the office. I do love working with a team of people, but being self employed, in charge of my life, is something I have been SO eager to do for a few years, I seriously could explode. I want to set up the life for me and Mr. Beau,  one that I can have a more flexible schedule. I know it is going to be such hard work, but I am ok with working hard, as long as its on my schedule. With a new business launching next month {see it here!} and my ultimate goal to be planning weddings on my own {contact me HERE!} I hope that next year at 34 I can finally call myself my own business. From now until then, wish me luck, as I know its going to be a busy year!

3. Attend Workshops - I think there is so much to learn from other professionals in your industry! Creating things with like minded people is a huge push to me, a huge boost and really gets me excited. Workshops like Flourish & Prospers Styling Workshop & Joy Thigpen's Styling Workshop are on the top of my list. I truly believe that you can learn SO much from others personal stories compared to a book.

4. De Stress - That world that I've been carrying around on my shoulders, shake it off. I have a gym routine that I frequent 4-5 times a week and I love it! However, I think it is time for me to really put some relaxation and stretching back into my life with yoga and running. I love the feeling of going outside in the fresh air for a run and going to a studio and stretching and breathing, I need to force myself to put this into my life again. Splurge on a massage, read a book, those little things are the things for the past year I have pushed away and instead been on my iPad on Pinterest or Instagram and that needs to stop.

5. Have More Confidence - I wouldn't say I do not have any confidence, I do, however when it comes to a personal professional confidence, I need to sell myself and be confident! I have over 12 years of experience in event planning and sometimes I am aware I sell myself short, I have just as much experience if not more then a lot of people and must stop comparing and just do it!

6. Be a Good Wife - A funny one to write but so true! With my juggling of my personal goals and projects all the time, poor Mr. Beau often has to hear me complain about everything, enough. Enough complaining and more doing will make me a better wife and friend every day.

7. Keep to a Schedule - Ok, this sounds kind of boring, haha, but it is true. I write my to do lists and have my mental schedules going on, but then I spend 30 minutes browsing around online and do not finish half of the list of items I had to do. With my blog, business, personal life, to keep me happy in all ways, I need to get a good schedule going on and schedule in my mights, our dates etc. I often over schedule us and in the next year I want to learn how to be smarter at our time and schedule!

8. Better Quality Posts - I have really had a hard time this past year feeling that Urban Flip Flops has had as much quality posts as I wish it could. A huge goal for me in the next year is to use my site to share my portfolio, my ideas and use it to really share things I see and posts I write down  I want to write but never get around to it. I do not want to write a post anymore that I am not proud to read myself.

9. Breaks with Mr. Beau - We have been married for over three months, yippee! and have travelled to Italy, the States and Holland. While these trips are ALWAYS amazing, it is little weekend get aways that can often be such a sweet thing as well. I truly want to plan more breaks with just us two, take advantage of living in Europe!

So that is it ! I know it is a lot of things to get done, however I look at what I was thinking of at 32 last year, and since then SO much has happened. I wish nothing but a sparkly and fulfilling year ahead, lots of good change to come! Wish me luck!

xoxo - Becca
